Thursday, July 15, 2021 - Thursday, July 15, 2021

THURSDAY, JULY 15 AT 10:00AM (PACIFIC)This briefing will explore how hydrogen infrastructure can create a self-sustaining market in California within this decade with moderate public support and a promise to phasing-out public funding support. This should make hydrogen infrastructure an attractive solution for the state’s ambitious ZEV goals and mandates, at limited cost to the taxpayer.

The briefing will hear the perspectives of the state's leading government voices on hydrogen station buildout and from different station developers on their perspective of reaching self-sustaining markets and the barriers that need to be addressed to get there. Speakers are encouraged to provide any specifics they can divulge publicly about their financial business case for light-duty FCEVs fueling infrastructure.

Briefing Agenda:

10:00 AM: Welcome and Introductions
• Bill Zobel, CHBC Executive Director

10:05 AM: Opening Keynote
• Gia Brazil Vacin, Assistant Deputy Director, Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV), Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development

10:15 AM: Summary of the Hydrogen Station Network Self-Sufficiency Analysis per Assembly Bill 8
• Dr. Andrew Martinez, Air Pollution Specialist · California Air Resources Board

10:30 AM: Roundtable discussion on the approach for investing in LD infrastructure with a clear ramp off for public investment to provide specifics about the financial business case for light-duty FCEVs and the limited public support, possible to sunset by 2030.

11:30AM: Close-Out

Moderator: Bill Zobel, Executive Director, CHBC
Salim Rahemtulla, President, PowerTap
Al Burgunder, Director, Product Management, Linde US (invited)
Steve Ellis, First Element Fuel
Dr. Andrew Martinez, Air Pollution Specialist · California Air Resources Board

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23 AT 7:00AM (PACIFIC)Without hydrogen there won’t be decarbonisation. H2 needs to be stored and transported. Compressed hydrogen is available, controllable and economical. This is where Type 4 comes into play – given its low weight and excellent mechanical properties.Type 4 cylinders are an indispensable technology of the future. As the world market leader of high-pressure cylinders and systems, Hexagon Purus will share its knowledge on type 4 technology with you. The webinar takes you on a journey of a cylinder from its development until decommissioning and covers additional aspects like safety and standards.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16 AT 7:00am (PACIFIC). No? Do you disagree with me? Then the lawyer is either your partner, a friend or you need something else from him or her... All joking aside! I have a very good kindergarten friend of my own who provides expert help with all my legal issues related to employment law these days. I am very grateful for that, and on top of that, he is also funny. Would you believe it. So on Wednesday, things will also get exciting at Mission Hydrogen. We have invited two lawyers to the interactive webinar: Sibylle Weiler (Partner France) and Matthias Lang (Partner Germany) from the law firm Bird & Bird take us on the virtual journey "Green Hydrogen for the transport sector - an EU and a German perspective". Among other things, you can expect valuable insights into the regulatory framework of RED II (Renewable Energy Directive) and how to deal with it, especially in the transport sector.

Wednesday, July 21, 2021 - Wednesday, July 21, 2021

WEDNESDAY, JULY 21 AT 10:00AM (EASTERN). Join our Saferty and Education Program Manager; Jennifer Hamilton during a one-hour session on, "hydrogen safety codes and standads on a global scale."

As the emerging hydrogen transportation and stationary power markets grow, so have codes and standards which promote safety. Recently, there have been efforts to harmonize these documents to accommodate a global market. Attend this sponsored webinar to better understand today’s model codes and major standards, where harmonization is taking place and its potential implications and how your new applications have been—or will be—affected.

In one hour, you’ll hear from those directly involved in the development of codes and standards as well as those doing the research that feeds into the proposed changes to existing documents.  You’ll gain a clear idea of what you can do now in response, where to put your resources and how to plan for future energy storage and fueling projects, equipment and design. You’ll explore where the needs are for new applications and what activities are happening to fill in the gaps. In addition, you’ll discover new areas of collaboration with other industry stakeholders.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Understand at a high level the codes and standards landscape for hydrogen and fuel cells application
  • Recognize and apply the appropriate documents to your area
  • Analyze and make sense of necessary additions or changes
  • Identify the correct groups to join for document revision or development
