Thursday, September 8, 2022 - Thursday, September 8, 2022

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 AT 10:30AM CENTRAL. Join us for the Vehicle Innovation Center's exclusive launch of the New Flyer next generation hydrogen fuel cell-electric bus.

Today, NFI supports growing North American cities with scalable, clean, and sustainable mobility solutions through a four-pillar approach that includes buses and coaches, technology, infrastructure, and workforce development. NFI also operates the Vehicle Innovation Center (“VIC”), the first and only innovation lab of its kind dedicated to advancing bus and coach technology and providing workforce development. Since opening late 2017, the VIC has hosted over 300 interactive events, welcoming 5,000 industry professionals for EV and infrastructure training.

What: New Flyer unveils its next generation hydrogen fuel cell-electric transit bus
Who: Hear from NFI executives on the latest zero-emission technology advancements, and take in a panel session featuring New Flyer’s battery & fuel cell experts and engineers

Wednesday, August 31, 2022 - Wednesday, August 31, 2022

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31 AT 12:OOPM  EASTERN. Join the next H2IQ Hour for a snapshot of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) environmental justice (EJ) priorities from Deputy Director for Energy Justice Tony Reames, followed by a demonstration from Zac Taie of the DOE Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office on how the H2Matchmaker tool can help identify opportunities in disadvantaged communities. These will be followed by perspectives from two hydrogen technology deployment projects, exploring their potential impact on communities through an EJ lens.

The first project-presentation will focus on a DOE-funded demonstration of a hydrogen fuel cell delivery truck fleet in California, while the second project-presentation will highlight a hydrogen bus deployment program in Ohio, supported by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Federal Transit Administration along with private funding.

The H2IQ Hour will include 45 minutes of live presentations, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A with all speakers. A recording of the H2IQ Hour will be available on the website after the event.

Tuesday, September 13, 2022 - Tuesday, September 13, 2022

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2022 at 10:00AM PACIFIC. Many of the doubts about hydrogen’s viability as the light- and heavy-duty transportation fuel source of the future are driven by misperceptions. It is true that challenges exist when handling hydrogen, but with proper fluid system design and engineering, they can be overcome.

This one-hour webinar will cover considerations for working with hydrogen, including:
• Meeting industry regulations and specifications
• Efficient storage, transport, and dispensing
• Handling a pressurized small-molecule gas
• Designing for rapidly changing pressures and temperatures
• Building systems that are safe, leak-tight, and offer a long service life

Speaker - Chuck Hayes; Principal Applications Engineer for Clean Energy

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17. 4pm in Berlin, 7 am in Los Angeles, 11 pm in Tokyo, 10 am in Toronto. “Hydrogen is not the solution, the efficiency is too low.” That’s what many people believe and say.

Efficiency is important, but it is not the only factor to be taken into account in an energy system. Size, weight, geographical aspects of the production site and the place where energy is needed, availability of materials e.g. for batteries, geopolitical aspects, seasonality, available infrastructure, approval procedures, legal aspects etc. are other factors that have to be taken into account as well.

In this webinar, Matthew Klippenstein, Executive Director at Hydrogen BC, a provincial affiliate of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA), will explain what really matters in an renewable energy system with sector coupling, where hydrogen makes sense and why.
