Tuesday, March 29, 2022 - Tuesday, March 29, 2022

TUESDAY, MARCH 29. Join the H2IQ Hour on March 29 at 9 AM PT to learn about the compatibility of pipeline materials with hydrogen and blends of hydrogen and natural gas. National laboratories within the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Hydrogen Materials Compatibility Consortium (H-Mat) have led research and development (R&D) on hydrogen pipelines for over a decade in collaboration with other leading research groups and industry members throughout the United States. This R&D work has informed codes and standards that guide the design of hydrogen technologies. Currently, H-Mat is leading R&D on pipeline materials within DOE's HyBlend initiative to enable hydrogen blending in natural gas pipelines.

In this webinar, Dr. Christopher San Marchi will share the state of knowledge on compatibility of pipeline materials with hydrogen and blends, identify key gaps that must be addressed prior to large-scale deployment, and highlight opportunities and challenges when transitioning existing natural gas infrastructure to hydrogen service.

Wednesday, March 30, 2022 - Wednesday, March 30, 2022

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30 AT 10:00AM - EASTERN. In one hour, you’ll learn how to identify material compatibility issues that are often associated with hydrogen exposure and how to reduce the chance of incidents caused by improper selection. With a focus on metallics and polymers, this webinar will investigate the interactions with hydrogen that lead to degradation of material properties. You’ll hear examples from the real world of service failures and gain lessons learned you can apply in your own work. From hydrogen embrittlement of metals to hydrogen safety, this webinar will bring you up to date on current research and where it’s headed, test methodologies and their results, and more. In addition, a Q & A will tackle questions you may have as an operator, engineer, code official, regulator, stakeholder or designer of hydrogen systems.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Select materials when designing or evaluating hydrogen systems
  • Understand the importance of material selection in the design of hydrogen systems
  • Identify which materials are impacted by hydrogen
  • Apply lessons learned from real-world examples of material compatibility issues

Thursday, February 24, 2022 - Thursday, February 24, 2022

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24 AT 10:00AM CENTRAL. With organizations and governments around the world focused on net-zero commitments, hydrogen continues to be discussed as a solution to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors. And yet, the carbon intensity of hydrogen is currently hard to measure, without precise measurement tools available on the market. GTI will welcome experts from the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) and S&P Global Platts to discuss the need for better emissions measurement tools in hydrogen marketplaces and what’s needed to address this void.
