WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31 AT 12:OOPM  EASTERN. Join the next H2IQ Hour for a snapshot of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) environmental justice (EJ) priorities from Deputy Director for Energy Justice Tony Reames, followed by a demonstration from Zac Taie of the DOE Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office on how the H2Matchmaker tool can help identify opportunities in disadvantaged communities. These will be followed by perspectives from two hydrogen technology deployment projects, exploring their potential impact on communities through an EJ lens.

The first project-presentation will focus on a DOE-funded demonstration of a hydrogen fuel cell delivery truck fleet in California, while the second project-presentation will highlight a hydrogen bus deployment program in Ohio, supported by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Federal Transit Administration along with private funding.

The H2IQ Hour will include 45 minutes of live presentations, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A with all speakers. A recording of the H2IQ Hour will be available on the website after the event.

Efficiency is important, but it is not the only factor to be taken into account in an energy system. Size, weight, geographical aspects of the production site and the place where energy is needed, availability of materials e.g. for batteries, geopolitical aspects, seasonality, available infrastructure, approval procedures, legal aspects etc. are other factors that have to be taken into account as well.​​​​​​​

In this webinar, Matthew Klippenstein, Executive Director at Hydrogen BC, a provincial affiliate of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA), will explain what really matters in an renewable energy system with sector coupling, where hydrogen makes sense and why.
